Aetia Scientific Collaborative (AetiaSci) is looking for motivated and experienced Principal Health Scientists. We are particularly interested in highly motivated applicants with demonstrated consulting experience in the human and environmental risk assessment domains. You will lead and collaborate with a team of scientists that participate in a variety of client-facing projects related to human health, including litigation support. The location for this position is flexible.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide strategic scientific leadership to solve complex human health challenges for a diverse portfolio of clients
Identify, pursue, and secure projects, shaping scope and scientific approach
Serve as a primary client contact, maintaining strong, collaborative relationships
Guide and oversee large, multidisciplinary teams, fostering technical excellence and professional development
Ensure the quality, rigor, and innovation of technical deliverables, publications, and presentations
Maintain visibility as an expert in scientific areas of expertise
Drive talent development and recruitment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s or PhD in toxicology, epidemiology, occupational and environmental health sciences, industrial hygiene, or a related discipline
Minimum of 15 years of related experience
Minimum of 5-10 years of consulting experience
Proven track record of generating new and recurring client work
Recognized for integrity, responsiveness, and technical expertise by clients and peers
Extensive publication record in peer-reviewed journals or other scientific/technical outlets
Strong commitment to mentoring and professional development of junior staff.
Current and future U.S. work authorization is required

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team engaged in evaluating human health risks associated with chemical exposures in occupational, environmental, and consumer product contexts. This position is well-suited for individuals with a strong scientific background who are seeking to apply their expertise in a non-laboratory or non-clinical setting. The role involves interdisciplinary work across toxicology, exposure science, and epidemiology to support the development of scientifically grounded, practical solutions in a fast-paced consulting environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate and interpret scientific literature in toxicology, epidemiology, industrial hygiene, and environmental health
Conduct quantitative exposure and risk assessments for chemical, occupational, and environmental exposures
Synthesize complex data into clear, defensible technical reports, memoranda, and client-facing deliverables
Support litigation projects by reviewing documents, summarizing findings, and providing analyses to inform expert testimony
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing subject-matter expertise and contributing to project execution
Communicate scientific findings effectively through technical reports, publications, and presentations
Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on scientific methods, reporting, and project workflows
Contribute to project planning, timeline management, and quality assurance of deliverables

7–10 years of experience in consulting, risk assessment, or related scientific work
Demonstrated expertise in evaluating scientific literature and performing quantitative risk assessments

Ability to work independently and maintain high-quality scientific standards

QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in toxicology, epidemiology, occupational and environmental health sciences, industrial hygiene, or related discipline
Educational or practical experience in the application of risk assessment is a plus, but not required
A record of publishing scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals or relevant technical publications is highly desirable, but not required
Experience with the EndNote reference manager software preferred, but not required
Strong technical writing and communication skills for diverse audiences
Current and future U.S. work authorization is required

Health Scientist Intern Positions
AetiaSci is seeking motivated Health Scientist Interns to join our technical practice in Boulder, Colorado. Successful candidates will join a collaborative team engaged in evaluating human health risks associated with chemical, physical, and biological exposures in occupational, environmental, and consumer product contexts. As a Health Scientist Intern, you will contribute to a wide range of engaging projects alongside a team of dedicated scientists. Key Duties:
Assist with research tasks supporting technical work products, presentations, and proposals

Qualifications:
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in epidemiology, industrial hygiene, toxicology, public health, or related disciplines.

Strong Microsoft Office skills are preferred.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) in-person position. The hourly pay range is $25–$30 per hour and will be commensurate with experience and demonstrated capabilities, as assessed during the interview process.
